When Covid-19 hit, Shopify became the saving grace for businesses with a physical presence and brick-and-mortar stores. As retail has shifted online in recent years, ecommerce apps have burst onto the scene to improve user experience and encourage customers to load up their baskets. We spoke to one company who took their online store back to their farmer's market-roots with a card up their sleeve: Bundle Builder.
“FreshJax is a growing small family business” says Kayci, the founder of a spice company committed to letting its customers to ‘taste the world'. She continues that “we started at our local Farmer’s Market back in 2011, and soon realized our products needed to be sold nationwide and not just in our awesome community.” Maintaining a market feel while catering to an online customer base is no easy feat, and so Kayci set out to find a solution.

Long gone is the archaic menu-format: by bundling their products, FreshJax's customers take the scenic route through their online spice rack: “now, they get to see the actual product in front of them as they select the spices”, she explains.

When considering product bundles, a frequent hurdle arises in many apps which rely on combining the bundle's products into just one SKU - this can cause third-party inventory and dropshipping services to fail to interpret the data, leave orders unfulfilled as a result. For FreshJax, “we needed an app that would count each individual product SKU that was in the Build Your Own Gift Set and record that information into our inventory system - and Bundle Builder does all that!”. While the app does offer a Single SKU Bundle option for merchants who need a unique SKU for each bundle, Bundle Builder's Multiple SKU option was “the best feature for our company - it tracks inventory on each product”, Kayci says, enjoying the app's seamless admin behind the scenes.

FreshJax set out to return to the farmer's market feel within their store's shopping experience, and what they got was a whole lot more. “We are a seeing increased sales because the customer can see photos of what they are purchasing”, Kayci explains. “They are able to select their five sampler spices faster than ever before”.
Therein lies the essence of Bundle Builder's success: merchants increase their average order value through changing up the route of the customer journey: customers see more, so merchants sell more - and FreshJax are living proof.
